Dykes Mrs. Gladys Marie Dykes, 87, 1666 Hillview Drive, Elizabethton, died Thursday, November 23, 2006, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Josephine Burrow White. Mrs. Dykes was a homemaker and a member of Southside Christian Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dykes was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Dykes, three brothers, Howard White, Lewis White and James White, and two sisters, Carolyn Josephine Nidiffer and Hazel White. Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Dykes of Elizabethton and Ralph Gerald Dykes of Goose Creek, S.C.; a daughter, Barbara Jenkins of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Maxine Roberts of Johnson City; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and three special sisters-in-law, Mary L. Grindstaff, Mary Dykes and Hazel Myers. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Dykes will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, November 25, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Mike Koruschak, minister, and Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Music will be provided by No Name But His. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Fair, Jeff Dykes, Pat Hicks, Travis Magee, Danny Simerly and Chris Dykes. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Robert Walter and the staff of Hillview Health Center for the loving and devoted care given to Mrs. Dykes during her illness. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
