CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mazie Morton Davis, 30 Jun 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mazie Morton Davis, 75, Swimming Pool Road, Hampton, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late J.D. and Sadie Hinkle Morton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Davis, a grandson, Tony Montgomery, and a sister, Lockie Oliver. Mrs. Davis was a member of Union Baptist Church and a former employee of Bemberg Corporation. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold Montgomery, Elizabethton, and Carl and Sandra Montgomery, Hampton; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Todd and Tracy Montgomery, Hampton; a special great-granddaughter, Paige Montgomery, Hampton; a grandson, Chad Grindstaff, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Crystal Maness, Kingsport; a sister, Velma Lipford, Elizabethton; three brothers, Claude Morton, Elizabethton, Clark Morton, Canton, N.C., and Sanford Morton, Hampton; several special nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Stella Arnett, Hampton. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Active pallbearers will be Ray Heaton, Shannon Morton, Leonard Oliver, Allen Oliver, John Presnell and Chad Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be James Norris, Johnny Lewis, Richard Hicks, John Henson and Howard Presnell. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, or friends may call at the residence of a son, Carl Montgomery, 162 Hall Street, Hampton, any time.
