Margie L. Dumas
 
Margie L. Bowers Dumas, 75, Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, 
died Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital 
following a brief illness.
Mrs. Dumas was a native of Elizabethton and the daughter of 
the late George and Gertha McRath Bowers. She was also preceded 
in death by a brother, George H. Bowers. 
Mrs. Dumas was a member of Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church 
and a past member of The Missionary Department of Brown's Chapel 
A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a past employee of Hammond Organ. 
Survivors include her husband, Al Dumas, of the home; a daughter, 
Connie Baker, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Georgetta Robinson, 
Baltimore, Md.; cousins, Charles and Addie McRath, Cleveland, 
Ohio; and four sisters-in-law, Elvena Bowers, Elizabethton, Maggie 
Dumas, Chicago, Ill., Jimmie Dumas and Willie B. McLane, both of 
Paris, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday September 21, 
in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. T. 
Horton, the Rev. Joseph Holifield, the Rev. Jeanette Clark and the 
Rev. C.D Johnson officiating. Interment will follow the funeral 
service at Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Albert Myrick, 
Dillard Richmond, Nathaniel Watson, Johnny Vines, Bobby Bradley and 
Arnold Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mac Trammel, Russell 
Smith and James Forney. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 
p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Friends may also call at the 
residence, Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, any time. Online
