CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ruth Elizabeth Dumic, 4 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Dumic, 86, Palms Lane, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in the Hillview Health Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Jenny Rasor Grindstaff. Mrs. Dumic was a homemaker. She was a member of the Unaka Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dumic, April 8, 1970; by a granddaughter, Sherry Dee Long; a son-in-law, Mack David; a sister, Roberta Egli; three brothers, Robert, Buster and Hubert Grindstaff; a brother-in-law, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Joe Dumic and a God daughter, Carol Scott. Survivors include a son, Joe Dumic, Elizabethton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Ed Gentry and Katy Davis, all of Elizabethton, and Leona and Wiley Blevins, of Shady Valley; one grandson; seven granddaughters; six great grandchildren; two step granddaughters; seven step great grandchildren, and one step great great granddaughter; two sisters, Frances Grindstaff and Nell Bowers, both of Elizabethton; one God daughter, Florence Scott Keller, of Detroit, Mich.; one special friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Dumic. Her extended family, Michael Dumic, John Dumic, Barbara Proffitt and Julie Proffitt also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004 in the Wilson Cemetery. The music will be provided by Kathy Norris and Edwin Taylor. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be Steve Perry, Ronnie Colbaugh, Bobby Grindstaff, Tony Grindstaff, Randy Grindstaff, Mike Taylor, Clifford Peters, A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher and Charles Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family and Richard Dugger. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
