A Carter County native, he was a son of the late Milburn A. and Marjorie Treadway Davenport. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Davenport. He was a retired construction worker. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Roy Ingram, Brenda Gail and Charles Holdren and Bobbie and Robert Bullock, all of Elizabethton, and Tina and Thorson Tolvert, Collettsville, N.C.; two brothers, Frank Davenport and M.A. Davenport, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Virgie Nidiffer, Elizabethton; and nine grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. DAVENPORT -- Funeral services for Herman Davenport, 91, Life Care Center, Elizabethton, formerly of Johnson Ave., who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Eggers officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be Wesley White, Jeffrey White, Tim Holdren, Rick Holdren and Chris Lewis. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may call at the residences of any of the children. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
