CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hazel Dyer, 23 Sep 2004

Hazel Dyer, 92, Cove Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, 
September 23, 2004, at her residence following an extended battle with 
colon cancer.
Mrs. Dyer was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Stephen 
and Lillie Gouge Barnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded 
in death by her husband of 66 years, Frank Dyer, a grandson, Keith Gray, 
a sister, Gladys Henegar, and a brother, John Barnett.Mrs. Dyer was a member 
of Cove Creek Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Norma Jean 
Dyer, Elizabethton, Steve and Vicky Dyer, Shirl and Wilma Dyer and Mike 
and Janet Dyer, all of Roan Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, 
Charlotte and Gene Hinson, Elizabethton, and Pam and Jerry Love, Johnson 
City; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathleen 
Hurt, Elizabethton, and Marie Mayfield, Orlando, Fla. Several nieces and 
nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, September 24, in 
the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. 
Richard Blevins and Rev. Tull Oaks officiating. Music will be under the 
direction of the Burbank Quartet. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, 
September 25, in the Dyer Cemetery, Cove Creek Road. Everyone will meet 
at the cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday for the graveside service. The family 
will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday in the Rhododendron Chapel 
of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, or at other times at the residence. 
Active pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mrs. Dyer. Honorary pallbearers 
will be Dr. Dean McLaughlin, Judge Robert Cupp, Jay Roberts and Kevin Gray.
