Edwards Miss Eleanor B. Edwards, 84, 3207 Bristol Highway, Apt. 220, Johnson City, formerly of 408 Carter Blvd., Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at North Side Hospital following a brief illness. Miss Edwards was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Gus L. and Hassie Morgan Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cephas Edwards, and two sisters, Valda Martin and Beatrice Carden. Miss Edwards was a 1939 graduate of Hampton High School where she was the Class Salutatorian. She retired from North American Rayon Corporation in the Clerical Department. She was a longtime member of Elizabethton Church of Christ and recently attended Central Church of Christ. Her church and her family were her life. Survivors include two sisters, Miss Grace B. Edwards and Miss Della B. Edwards, both of the home. Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews also survive. Funeral services for Miss Edwards will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Tim Hall, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Elizabethton Church of Christ Singers. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be James E. Carden Jr., Mike Lyons, Randall Lyons, David L. Martin, Steven Martin, Chris Cagle, Bart Cagle and Garrett Lyons. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Morgan, Crawford Potter, Ernest Whitehead, Darnel Baird, Dr. Ray Lamb, James Carden Sr., James E. Carden III and the men of Elizabethton Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 until 6 p.m. Wednesday or at the residence, 3207 Bristol Highway, Apt. 220, Johnson City, at anytime. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers to those who desire memorials may be made to Elizabethton Church of Christ, 137 East C Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
