CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ralph R. Edens, 3 Aug 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mr. Ralph R. Edens, 81, Pinecrest Community, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Harrison and Annie Simms Edens. He was retired from Pet Dairy in Johnson City and was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Aline Martin Edens in 1990, and one brother, Harold Edens in 1991. Survivors include five sisters, Hazel Holden and Jean White, both of Johnson City; Nancy Alsup, Elizabethton; Wilma Montgomery and Ann Valentine, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Donald Edens, Washington, D.C.; Tom Edens, Greenville, N.C. and Jack Edens, Tallahassee, Fla. Several nieces and nephews and a special friend, LaVerne Cochran, Kingsport, also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Ralph R. Edens will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. John Perkins and Rev. Gary Thacker officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Elmer Sams Jr., soloist. Burial will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mark Edens, Tommy Burleson, Jim Randolph, Luther McKeehan, Donald McKeehan and Richard Edens. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday or at the residence of a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Phil White at any time.
