CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Carnie Butler Eggers, 8 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Carnie Butler Eggers, 88, of Butler, died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Eggers was a native of Carter County. He was a retired employee of the American Bemberg Corporation and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Elk Mills Baptist Church but attended Little Milligan Baptist Church. Mr. Eggers was preceded in death by his wife, Dezmonda Moody Eggers, October 17, 1988. Survivors include a son, Rick B. Eggers, Morristown; a grandson, Justin Eggers, Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Frances Ripple of Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nick Bradshaw officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, in the Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Joe Eggers, Jimmy Vernon Moody, Mike Moody, Bobby "Buzz" White, Cotton Smith and Junior Clark. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
