CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Gladys Stafford Hampton Eller, 10 Mar 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Gladys Stafford Hampton Eller, 77, Sneed Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Eller was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Thomas and Mina Franklin Stafford. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Hampton, in 1973; her second husband, Dennis Eller, in 1999; four brothers, Earl Stafford, Jerry Stafford, Bill Stafford and Larry Stafford; and four sisters, Nell Potter, Christine Laws, Shirley Stafford and Betty Stafford. Mrs. Eller was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. She was a former L.P.N at Carter County Memorial Hospital and retired from the medical department at North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sandy Hampton, Knoxville; three grandsons, Bret Hampton and his wife, Sonya, Nashville, Derek Hampton, Murfreesboro, and Chad Hampton and his wife, Amber, Maryville; three stepsons, Roy Hampton and Earl Hampton, both of Johnson City, and Johnny Hampton, Unicoi; two stepdaughtersElla Mae Miller and Orlia Harrison, both of Elizabethton; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Marie Hampton, Nashville; two brothers, Tom Stafford Jr., Elizabethton, and K.P. Stafford, Gray; and four sisters, Grace Bogolin, Newnan, Ga., Ruby Sams, Piney Flats, Ann Stafford, Lenoir, N.C., and Nora Jean Dooley, Atlanta, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Ed DeVault, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Elizabethton Church of Christ Singers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at the residence, 132 Sneed Hill Road, Elizabethton, anytime. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bret Hampton, Chad Hampton, Derek Hampton, George Ellis, Paul Stafford, Willie Holtsclaw, Steve Roberts and Dennis Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be all men of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
