Mr. Ellison was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Nat and Mary Brummitt Ellison. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Ellison was a retired mechanic at North American Rayon Corporation, having retired in 1975. He was a member of the Lyons Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Upper Gap Creek Quartet. Survivors include his wife, Tempie Jay Clark Ellison; two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris and G.W. Puckett, Elizabethton, and Glenda Cox, Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Odis Ellison Jr. and Kerry Ellison, Winchester, Tenn.; two brothers, Ora Ellison (his twin brother), and Roy Ellison, both of Hampton; four granddaughters, Jesica Graybeal and her husband, Rocky, Shea Ellison, Anna Ellison and Kelly Ellison; four grandsons, Joshua Puckett and his wife, Mitzi, Jeremy Puckett, James Cox and Jason Cox; and a great-granddaughter, Kirsti Graybeal. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. ELLISON -- Funeral services for Odis Ellison, 78, 1437 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, September 11, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C. A. Howell, the Rev. Allen Simerly and the Rev. Dexter Brumitt officiating. The Heavenly Echoes will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 14, in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Nathan Ellison, Bobby Ellison, Roger Ellison, Eugene Ellison, Gary Whitemore, Wayne Whitemore, Wayne Clark, Jed Clark and Jonathan Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Lyons Chapel and Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Churches. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
