Emmert Mrs. Dorothy Dimple Emmert, 86, 222 Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton, following a brief illness. Mrs. Emmert was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a daughter of the late John P. and Roxie Sorrell Hopkins. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Emmert was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation with 25 years of service. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Emmert, of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby and Elaine Emmert, Elizabethton, Kenneth and Peggy Emmert and Ronald Emmert, all of Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Ed Marley, Elizabethton; and a sister, Ruth Fair, Sacramento, Calif. Six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Kenneth Kyker and the Rev. Harold Mains officiating. Music will be by Mrs. Sherry Hutchins, soloist. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rodney Emmert, David White, Kevin Burchfield, Eddie Haines, Jody Lewis and Danny Churchill. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Big Springs Baptist Church, Kenneth Cranfield, Bill Osborne, Earl Berry and Dawson Grindstaff. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Big Springs Baptist Church, 171 Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
