CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Warren G. Estep, Sr., 1 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Warren G. Estep, Sr. Warren G. Estep, Sr., 80, Nannie Smith Road, Hampton, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertie Scalf Estep. Mr. Estep was a retired painter with Grandfather Mountain Incorporated. He had received the pioneer award for co-founding the Hampton Bass Club. Mr. Estep was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He is preceded in death by an infant brother; three sisters, Lenice "Sweetie" Lyons, Edith Estep and Hildred Peeks, and two grandsons, Gary Lynn Elliott and Timothy Michael White. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Esther Guinn Estep, of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and David Baldwin, Fayetteville, N.C.; Barbara and Donnie Elliott, Elizabethton; Sherry Estep and Mike White, Elizabethton; Patricia and J.R. Matthews, Hampton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Warren Jr. and Joyce Whitehead Estep, Hampton; Bill and Vivian Estep, Abingdon, Va.; John and Susan Gouge Estep, Elizabethton; ten grandchildren; John D. Elliott, Jr.; Rebecca Diffenbach; Sue Ellen Estep; Nolan Estep; Samantha Estep; Misty Canipe; Josh Estep; Keith Oliver; Andrew Estep, and Justin Estep; two step grandchildren, Brandy Barker-Estep, and SPC Jennifer Lynn Evans; seven great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; three brothers, I.E. Estep, Johnson City; Hasford Estep, Hampton, and Bill Estep, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 N. Estep, Sr., 80, Nannie Smith Road, Hampton, who died on Saturday, March 1, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5 to go in procession to the cemetery.
