A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Melton Alexander and Florence Crumley Church. Mrs. Fields was a member of Roan Mountain Methodist Church. She had been the owner of Lydia Emma's Sewing Shop in Elizabethton for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Bobby Church, and a sister, Elizabeth Byrd. Survivors include her husband, Sterling Fields, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and David Street of Hampton; two grandsons, Braiden Smith and Jacob Street, both of Hampton; and a brother, George Thurman Church of San Antonio, Texas. Four nieces and a nephew also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Fields will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery in the Roan Mountain community. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. for that service. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Pooyan and Dr. Freeman for their wonderful care of Lydia Emma during her illness.
