Fine Bethana Gouge Fine, 85, 2003 Waters Edge Drive, Johnson City, formerly of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Tami Stevens Gouge. Mrs. Fine had worked as a lunch room supervisor for the Carter County School System, and had also volunteered at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital for many years. Everyone knew her as being a passionate Bingo player. Beth dearly loved her grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed every moment she was able to spend with them. She was of the Baptist faith, and had most recently been attending services at the Wellington Place Assisted Living Center where she was a resident. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Fine Jr., and a special brother-in-law, L.B. Young. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Paul Frye of Piney Flats; a son, Robert Steven Fine of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Preston and Jordan Frye, both of Piney Flats, and Garth Fine of Johnson City; a sister, Geneva Young of Johnson City; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mac and Martha Gouge of Johnson City and Rudolph and Carolyn Gouge of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Mrs. Fine will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Laura Rasor and Rev. Mack Houston officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday immediately following the service in the funeral home chapel. A private graveside service will be conducted at an earlier time at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff of Wellington Place for the warm and loving care given to Mrs. Fine during her stay. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Piney Flats United Methodist Church, 355 Piney Flats Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686, where her daughter was a member.
