Louise B. Fondren 





    Mrs. Louise Bruce Fondren, 101, formerly of Sylvan Hill Road, 

Elizabethton, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007, at the Hermitage Health 

Center. 





    Mrs. Fondren was born on June 19, 1905, in McEwen, Tenn. She was the 

daughter of the late R.D. and Linnie Rhodes Bruce. In addition to her parents, 

she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Howard "Barney" Fondren, 

in February of 2005, a daughter, Kay Fondren Markette, in July of 2005, and by 

three brothers and seven sisters. 





    Mrs. Fondren was a former employee in the Physical Laboratory of North 

American Rayon Corporation for 44 years. She was a member of First Baptist 

Church of Elizabethton. 





    Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Fondren Campbell of Baltimore, Md., 

six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. 





    The graveside service for Mrs. Fondren will be conducted at 1 p.m. 

Thursday, January 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Brent Seals 

officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the 

cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home chapel at anytime. 

Those wishing to make memorials in lieu of flowers may send donations to First 

Baptist Church, 212 East F Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Online condolences

    Arrangements for the Fondren family have been entrusted to Hathaway-Percy
