CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Luther E. Fair Sr., 10 Jul 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Luther E. Fair Sr., 77, Plymouth Road #16, Johnson City, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Fair was a native of Carter County and was the last living child of the late Sam and Lillie P. Humphries Fair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Williams Fair, December 16, 1996, three brothers, James Martin Fair, Samuel "Buck" H. Fair and Donald Fair, and four sisters, Hazel Jones, Frances Cole, Esther Mae Dowell and Irene Thomas. Mr. Fair was a member of Central Church of Christ (Central Community). He was a retired truck driver for ET & WNC and was a member and retiree of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM, Elizabethton, a 32-degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Knoxville, Thomas E. Matson Chapter #131 Royal Arch Masons, Johnson City, Watauga - Commandery #25 Johnson City, Holston - Council #101, Cryptic Masons, Johnson City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific in World War II, and was a special World War II Graduate of Elizabethton High School in 2001. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Jackie Price, Burkeville, Va.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Luther Earl Fair Jr. and Kay Fair, Keystone Heights, Fla., and Gerald M. Fair, Johnson City; three grandchildren, Leah Fair Bronson, Jupiter, Fla., Adrian Fair, Alexandria, Va., and Jeanette Jo Price, Burkeville, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Bronson, Jupiter, Fla.; a special friend, Dorothy Bryant, Johnson City; and a special niece, Shirley Bryant, Gray. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Fair will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Todd Wolfe, minister, officiating. A Masonic Service will follow the funeral service accorded by Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service in the chapel, or you may call at his residence, 2518 Plymouth Road #16, Johnson City, at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are requested to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of Central Church of Christ (Central Community). Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Central Church of Christ. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Mr. Fair to the Building Fund of Central Church of Christ, 137 Hopson Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
