CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Gay Crumley Fletcher, 5 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Gay Crumley Fletcher, 91, 1874 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Simpson and Bessie Lewis Crumley. Mrs. Fletcher, along with her late husband, Dewey Fletcher, who died Dec. 28, 1963, operated the A.D. Fletcher's Store on Stoney Creek for a number of years. She was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clint Crumley, four sisters, Lena Nave, Mary Williams, Helen Marshall, and Maude Gallagher. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, A.D. "Sonny" and Betty Fletcher, Elizabethton; a grandson and his wife, John and Judy Fletcher, Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Lacee Fletcher and Cassidy Lauren Fletcher; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park, with the Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Burial will follow the service. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:25 p.m. Sunday.
