Folsom Robert E. Folsom, 77, 606 N. East Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Folsom was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Malcolm N. and Lillie Henry Folsom. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wright Folsom; and by five sisters, four half-sisters, two half-brothers and a brother. Mr. Folsom was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Folsom, Pulaski, Va., and Eddie Folsom, Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Ann Russell and Vicki Lamb, both of Canton, Ohio; and a half-brother, Jack Folsom, Corpus Christi, Texas. Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. FOLSOM -- Funeral services for Robert E. Folsom, 77, 606 N. East Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, April 5, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Poston officiating. Alecia Holder and Jurelle Smith will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with military graveside honors conducted by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 7:50 p.m. Saturday and also at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, will be John Henry, Don Crowe, Dean Burrow, Mitchell Smith, Jack Michael Russell, Amanda Folsom, Emily Folsom and Meg Folsom. His Special Friends: Jurelle Smith, Deacon Bowers, Virgie Cardwell, Margaret Honeycutt, Earl Stafford, Clarence Perry, Addie Blevins, Margie Berry, Thelma Colbaugh and Richard Bowling. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at First Free Will Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence of Linda Burrow, 1028 Broad Street, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
