CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Roxie Nave Forbes, 8 Jul 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Roxie Nave Forbes, 80, Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at NHC Health Care, Johnson City, following an extended illness. Mrs. Forbes was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Elijah and Arra Shell McKinney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Stanley Nave Sr., her second husband, John Forbes, one son, Norman Stanley Nave Jr., her step-father, Wilson McKinney, and one step-brother, Jack McKinney. Mrs. Forbes was of the Presbyterian faith and retired from North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include two sisters, Lena Simerly and June McKinney, both of Hampton; one step-brother, Bruce McKinney of Ohio; and one step-sister, Luster Stevens, Hampton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service was conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Frederick Meredith officiating. Music will be under the direction of The Gospel Trio. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence, 2588 Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, at any time. Active pallbearers will be Rex Simerly, Max Simerly, Steve Simerly, Leslie McKinney, Bobby McKinney, J.L. McKinney, Kenny McKinney and Tennie Nidiffer. Honorary pallbearers are the Staff and Management of NHC Health Care of Johnson City, Dr. Burgin Dossett and Dr. Charley Ward.
