Ferguson James L. "Jim" Ferguson, 89, West G Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Ferguson was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and the son of the late W. Everett and Linnia Roe Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Phillip D. Ferguson, in 1978, and by three brothers and a sister. Mr. Ferguson was retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include his wife, Ruby I. Richardson Ferguson, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Sonja Ferguson, Sam L. and Carolyn Ferguson and David R. and Kristy Ferguson, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Sarah Grindstaff, Elizabethton, and Maude Nance, Johnson City; and four grandchildren, Wendy Campbell, Johnson City, Jamie Ferguson, Carolee Ferguson and Phillip Ferguson, all of Elizabethton. "Jim" Ferguson, 89, 105 West G Street, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Dr. Don Marshall and the Rev. Jamie Ferguson officiating. Music will be by Jerry Barnett and Mrs. Patti Hodge, soloists. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, in the Highland Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Joe Nance, Bob Miller, Rick Campbell, Phillip Ferguson, Robert Medley, Donald Medley, Michael Medley, Joseph D. Ferguson, Chip Shuler and Johnny Burchett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call at the residence, 105 West G Street, Elizabethton, at any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
