Betty L. Garland 





    Mrs. Betty L. Garland, 81, of 1201 Circle Drive, Elizabethton, died on 

Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Northside Hospital, Johnson City, following a brief 

illness. Mrs. Garland was the daughter of the late Robert and Ellen Stout 

Campbell, and was a native of Carter County. Mrs. Garland was of the Baptist 

faith, and was retired from NARC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garland was 

preceded in death by her husband, Luther Garland; a son, Jerry Garland; and 

three brothers and three sisters. 





    Mrs. Garland is survived by two daughters, Valerie and her husband, Bernie 

Taylor, of Johnson City; Pamela Richardson and her fiancé, Alan Buckingham, 

Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Mark Taylor, Johnson City, Erica 

Richardson, Elizabethton, and Allison LaMarr and her husband, Dustin, of Lehi, 

Utah; one great grandson, Colton Emery, Elizabethton; and special friends 

Helen Tester and Jack Shook. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 





    The graveside service for Mrs. Garland will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 

19, 2006, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, at 10 am., with the Rev. Bobby Stout 

officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Garland, Lanny White, Dave 

Honeycutt, Coy Taylor, Jr., Darrell Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, Larry Collins, 

Kevin Stout, Kimmie Stout and Steve Stout. The family will receive friends 

from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday at the residence of Mrs. Garland, 1201 Circle Drive, 

Elizabethton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 

building fund of Poplar Grove Baptist, C/O Rev. Eric Wright, 1587 Highway 91, 

Elizabethton, TN, 37643, the church she grew up in. Online condolences may be
