Marjorie L. Gass 





    Marjorie Lyons Gass, 74, 1982 Highway 81 South, Jonesborough, died Friday, 

January 4, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center following a three-year 

illness. 





    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Landon J. and 

Cora Heaton Lyons. 





    Mrs. Gass was a member of Central Baptist Church, Johnson City. She had 

worked in the banking industry. 





    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, 

Roy, Earl, Clarence, Howard and Willie Lyons, and a sister, Armita Myers. 





    Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Phil Gass, of the home; a 

daughter, Julie A. Gass, of the home; and two special nieces, Dr. Jane M. 

Jones and Jeannette Boswell. 





    A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Gass will be conducted at 7 p.m. 

Monday, January 7, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Dr. Ron 

Murray and Rev. Bill Warfield officiating. The eulogist will be Hazel 

Campbell. Music will be under the direction of Bill Stoots, Debbie Odom, 

Barbara Stephenson, Judy Ramsey, Ambers Wilson, organist, and Rose Mary Lowe, 

pianist. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 7 

p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be 

at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those 

attending are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday 

for the service. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make 

donations to the National Kidney Foundation, 4450 Walker Blvd., Suite 2, 

Knoxville, TN 37917-1547. Condolences may be sent to the family by signing the
