Gouge Emma S. Gouge, 89, 3716 Arrowhead Trail, Kingsport, formerly of 193 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Nick and Naomi Tipton Smith. Mrs. Gouge was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, Kingsport. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gouge was preceded in death by her first husband, Bert Greer; her second husband, Robert Gouge; a son, Wilbur Greer; a sister, Myrtle Honeycutt; a granddaughter, Amy Street; a grandson, Michael Greer; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Brewer; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Greer. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rudy Greer of Greenville, S.C., and Bob and Ginger Gouge of Kingsport; a daughter and son-in- law, Patsy and Kenneth Stanley of Roan Mountain; a stepdaughter, Draper Heaton of Roan Mountain; 10 grandchildren, Amanda and Rachel Greer, Gregory Greer, Emily, Robbie, Ethan and Andy Gouge, Kenny Lou Heaton, Carole Archer and Bert Stanley; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Buchanan of Johnson City; a nephew and several great-nieces. The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Gouge will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Gouge Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Paul McKinney, Chris Wilson, Tom Jarrett, Jack Barnett, Harold Jarrett and Rick Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. The family received friends in the Rhododendron Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter, Patsy Stanley, 329 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, at other times.
