Garland 02/28/99 Mrs. Edith Taylor Garland, 71, 139 Green Valley Lane, Elizabethton, died Saturday, February 27, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Garland was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Jess and Maggie Kress Taylor. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Taylor, Gilbert Taylor and Ethan "Dude" Taylor. Mrs. Garland was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, having worked there for 52 years. She was a member of the Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Foy Garland; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Bessie) Hardin and Mrs. Annis Taylor Deal, both of Elizabethton; three brothers, James "Jay" Taylor, Aaron "Chig" Taylor and Bufford "Lemmie" Taylor, all of Elizabethton; two special cousins, Anna Lou Walker and Hazel Hall; and four special friends, Phyllis Grindstaff, Sammatha Heaton, Arrie Jo Grindstaff and Geraldine Woods. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. GARLAND -- Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Taylor Garland, 71, 139 Green Valley Lane, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.D. Neeley and Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 12 noon Monday in the Kress Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 11:20 a.m. Monday, will be C.B. Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Dwayne Taylor, Mickey Taylor, Rickey Taylor and Jimmie Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be John Garland, Clyde Blevins, Grant Hall, Rothie Fox, Luther Wood, Burnie Taylor, Christopher Hoss, Chris Hardin and Barney Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:20 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
