Garland 04/08/99 Ina Cole Garland, 86, 1777 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Ms. Garland was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late William and Mary Davis Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garland, September 10, 1970, two sisters and a brother. Ms. Garland was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church and a former employee of Bemberg Corporation. She also belonged to the Stoney Creek Quilting Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ronald Taylor, Elizabethton; a son, Marvin Charles Garland, of the home; a sister, Helen Hill, Elizabethton; a brother, Melville Cole, Elizabethton; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Marsha and Dwayne Taylor, Johnson City, and April and Joe Howard, Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Weston Taylor, both of Johnson City; and special friends, Irene and Dal Carrier, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. GARLAND -- Funeral services for Ina Cole Garland, 86, 1777 Highway 91, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Richard Estep and Rev. Ron Owens officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bob Moore, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jim Hyder, Jerry Nave, Kirby Taylor, Harry Ford, Keith Patton, Ralph Cole and Wayne Peeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Dr. Scott Caudle, Kermit Midkiff, Stephen Payne, Howard Sheffield, Jack Mann, Lemmie Taylor, Lanny White, Rev. Jonas Revis, Arlie Cole, Wayne Hicks, Fred Taylor, Herb Curde, Ivan Morley, Jeff Reed, Employees of the Carter County School Bus Garage and Drivers, Employees of Carter County Schools Central Office, Members of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church and the Nursing Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ronald Taylor, 129 Camelot Court, Elizabethton, any time.
