Garland 2/14/00 Erma Mae Garland, 78, 408 Orchard Road, Elizabethton, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the home of her son, Eddie Garland, 603 Regency Lane, Elizabethton, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Mod and Vada Grindstaff Garland. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie, Luther and Frank Garland; one sister, Hattie Estep; and four half-brothers. She was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Debbie Garland, Elizaethton; three sisters: Mamie Celia, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton; Ida Taylor, Elizabethton; and Laura Watson, Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren: David Garland, Chicago, Ill.; Lori Smith and her husband, Everett, Elizabethton; and Mark Garland, Elizabethton; one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Smith, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews. GARLAND -- Funeral services for Erma Mae Garland, 78, 408 Orchard Road, Elizabethton, who died Friday, wil be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Ferguson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Edwin Taylor, organist. Graveside service and interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Tetrick Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday evening at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, or at the home of her son, Eddie Garland, 603 Regency Lane, Elizabethton, any time.
