Garland Mike B. Garland, 95, 119 Green Valley Lane, Elizabethton, died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John Raleigh and Martha Campbell Garland. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida B. Stout Garland; four sons, Ralph Garland, Elwood Garland, Jack Garland, Mike Garland, Jr.; and two brothers and four sisters. He was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corp., having been employed there for 33 years. Mr. Garland was a member of the Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mossie H. Garland; a son, R. Russell Garland, Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Pearl F. Cole, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Paul (Peggy ) Buckles, Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; two step-sons, Gordon Hipshire, Morristown, Tenn.; and Bruce Hipshire, Horn Lake, Miss.; 15 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, several great- and great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends, neighbors, and brothers and sisters in the church. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. GARLAND -- Funeral services for Mike B. Garland, 95, 119 Green Valley Lane, Elizabethton, who died Friday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Elders Willard Owens and Robert Whitt officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday, will be Adam Hinkle, Alan Hinkle, Kermit Hinkle, Jeremy Hinkle, Cecil Eggers, Keith Bowers, and Mark Blevins. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at9:30 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
