Billy J. Gibbs, Sr.

Billy Jack Gibbs, Sr., 72, Old 19E Highway, Roan Mountain, died 
Friday, March 21, 2003, at Lake James Lodge, Marion, N.C., following 
an extended illness. 
A native of Carter County, Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late Elmer 
and Ina Winters Gibbs. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Jack 
Gibbs, Jr., two brothers and two sisters. 
Mr. Gibbs was a member of Roan Mountain Church of God and was a butcher. 
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Mike Brown, 
Roan Mountain, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Paul Gibbs, 
Roan Mountain and Elmer Dean and Darlene Gibbs, Crossnore, N.C., and 
eight grandchildren.
Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, 423-772-3928, is in charge of the 
arrangements. 

GIBBS -- Funeral services for Billy Jack Gibbs, Sr., 72, Old 19E 
Highway, Roan Mountain, who died Friday, March 21, 2003, will be conducted 
at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, 
Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Lander Heafner officiating. Interment will 
follow the funeral service at Gibbs Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers 
will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends 
from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron 
Chapel, Roan Mountain, or friends may call at the residence of a son, 
Robert Paul Gibbs, 169 Old 19E Highway, Roan Mountain, any time. Online
