CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Raymond C. Glover, 5 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Raymond C. Glover, 85, Honeycutt Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Glover was a native of Carter County and the son of the late William A. and Mary Chambers Glover. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Maier Glover. Mr. Glover was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include five sons, John Glover, Johnson City, Paul Glover, Kingsport, Danny Glover, Johnson City, Steve Glover, Thomasville, N.C., and Leroy Johnson, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, Andy Glover, Elizabethton, Sherry Collins, Hampton, Kurt Glover, Johnson City, Fred Johnson, Elizabethton, Stephanie Johnson, Elizabethton, Deanna Johnson, Elizabethton, Sandy Glover of North Carolina, Aaron Glover, Kingsport, and Amy Penix, Gray; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Canter, Elizabethton; and a brother, Conley Glover, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, February 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating. Music will be under the direction of Wayne Lyons, soloist. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, at Sims Hill Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
