Gobble George Joe Gobble, 79, 2670 Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Gobble was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Roy and Cora Martin Gobble. He was also preceded in death by three sons, a brother and a sister. Mr. Gobble was a former employee of the Highway Department of Grundy, Va., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Bradley Gobble, of the home; a daughter, Tina Rose, Elizabethton; a son, Ricky Gobble, Elizabethton; a brother, Ernest Gobble, Portland, Ore.; and two sisters, Virginia Woods, Portland, Ore., and Mary Campbell, Elizabethton. Three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. These services entrusted to Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. www.Funeral-Plans. com/Hathaway-Percy GOBBLE -- Funeral services for George Joe Gobble, 79, 2670 Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Guinn officiating. Music will be under the direction of R.L. Gobble. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Colbaugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Shannon Chapman, Terry Rose, Tim Campbell, Gene Wilkerson, Lee Wilkerson, Darrell Rose, Benny Ramsey, R.L. Gobble, Robert Gobble Jr. and Eddie Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, the doctors at the VA Medical Center and the staff of Life Care Health Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at the residence, 2670 Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, at any time.
