Gouge Mrs. Roxie Jaye Gouge, 96, 145 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, died Thursday, September 27, 2001, at Hermitage Health Center. Mrs. Gouge was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late A.J. and Delia Chambers Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carson S. Gouge, two brothers, Will M. Miller and John J. Miller, and three sisters, Kate Grindstaff, Mary Boling and Belle Morrell. Mrs. Gouge was a well-known cook and homemaker. She was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, James Miller, Hillview Nursing Home, Elizabethton, and a half sister, Mrs. Rhoda McKinney, Hampton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. GOUGE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Roxie Jaye Gouge, 96, 145 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, who died Thursday, September 27, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Jaynes, the Rev. Roy Cates and the Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Josephine Kerley. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Bill Miller, Floyd Reeser, John Christianson, Johnny Miller, Zane Teague, Truman Clark, Larry Clark, Clinton Reeser, Michael Blackwell, Earl Lewis and Kenny Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Clark, Max Blackwell, Michael Blackwell and her church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
