CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Howard S. Gouge Sr., 22 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Howard S. Gouge Sr., 88, Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Roan Mountain, he was a son of the late Dosser and Minnie Winters Gouge. Mr. Gouge was a retired produce salesman and carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith. He had served in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Davis, in 1989; by a son, Howard S. Gouge Jr., in 1995; and by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Rosalind Nave, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-Law, Carroll and Ramona Gouge, Jonesborough; eight grandchildren, Buddy Lee Davis, Danny Davis, Patrick Gouge, Mary Carol Ledford, Sidney Gouge, Cristi Weiss, Nathan Gouge and Joshua Gouge; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D.C. Byrd and the Rev. John Vance officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gouge Family Cemetery (Heaton Ridge Road), Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday, will be Buddy Davis, Danny Davis, Nathan Gouge, Patrick Gouge, Joshua Gouge and Eugene Gouge. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter, Rosalind Nave, 2012 Dave Buck Road, Johnson City. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
