CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mary Isabelle Greene, 3 Oct 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mary I. Greene Mary Isabelle Greene, 79, Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton. Mrs. Greene was a native of Avery County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Coy C. and Nora Guy Greene. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Owens and Modest Creasey, and two brothers, William T. Greene and Edgar G. Greene. Mrs. Greene attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 42 years of service. Survivors include four sisters, Violet Lyons, Elizabethton, Mrs. Raymond (Ella) Whitehead, Elizabethton, Blanche Hill, Hampton, and Velma Lee Clemons, Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Greene, Ft. Washington, Md., and Ruth Greene, Elizabethton; special friends, Nell Reed, Murfreesboro, and Betty Campbell, Scottsboro, Ala.; a special goddaughter, Laura Jo Elijah, Elizabethton; several cousins, all of Vilas, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and several great- nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonas Revis and the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music was under the direction of Robert and Pat Ray and Ben Johnson. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be great-nephews, A.J. Clemons, Douglas Creasey, Wayne Clemons, Eric Creasey, Larry Moreland, Nathan Carter, David Stonecipher and Danny Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, the Men's Class of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, the administration and staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Joel Elijah, the Rev. Jerry Emmert, Gene Douglas, Dr. Robert Grindstaff and employees and former employees of Burgie Drug Store. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 115 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, any time.
