CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Roby Greer, 16 Jul 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Roby Greer, 97, Elizabethton, whose Graduation Day was Friday, July 16, 2004, when he went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He passed away at his residence. A native of the Burbank community of Carter County, he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Frankie Melissa Jarrett Greer. Mr. Greer was a retired carpenter and merchant, having operated Greer's Grocery and Fabric Shop at 1401 Siam Road for several years. Mr. Greer was a charter member and one of the overseers of the construction of the original East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He had served as a deacon for many years. After his retirement, his hobby was clock-making. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magalene Brewer Greer, Nov. 21, 2002; by a granddaughter, Patricia Ann Greer; eight brothers, Floyd Greer, Jim Greer, Dave Greer, John Greer, Reubin Greer, Jess Greer, Charlie Greer and Bob Greer; and three sisters, Becky Miller, Fennie Greer and Doshie Andrews. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Rene Greer, Hickory, N.C., Norman L. and Lois (Peanut) Greer and George Frank and Nadine Greer, all of Elizabethton; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and John James, Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright.
