CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Elige Greer, 7 Mar 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Elige Greer, 88, Rolling Road, Burlington, N.C., died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mr. Greer was a native of Carter County, Tenn., and had lived in Burlington most of his life. He was a son of the late William Floyd and Sarah Street Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bert Greer, Fred Greer and Reece Greer, and four sisters, Frankie Jarrett, Martha Boone, Kate Hughes and Grace Greer. Mr. Greer retired as District Sales Manager for Regal, Inc. He loved his family, trout fishing and gardening. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Greer, of the home; a daughter, Sara Gray, McLeansville, N.C.; a son, Kirk Greer, Burlington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ryan Gray, Sam Gray, Randi Greer and Michael Greer; and a sister, Marie Barnett, Burbank Community, Roan Mountain. Graveside services for Mr. Greer will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, in the Greer Family Cemetery with Dr. Paul Humphrey officiating. Everyone will meet at the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Music will be under the direction of Jon Shell, bagpiper. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, or at the residence of his sister, Marie Barnett, 359 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, at anytime. Active pallbearers will be nephews: Kevin Gray, Don Barnett, Dickie Jarrett, William Greer, Jim Boone and Tommy Jarrett.
