Grindstaff 06/02/99 Mrs. Elsie R. Meredith Grindstaff, 73, 510 Parkway Blvd., Elizabethton, died Monday, May 31, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Grindstaff was a native of Elizabethton and a daughter of the late William Robert and Minnie Cordella Garrison Meredith. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Gretchen White, Mary Kate Williams and Lizzie Belle Reed, and four brothers, Carl, Dorsey C., Ernest and Walter Meredith. Mrs. Grindstaff was a member of West Side Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Crawford D. Grindstaff, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy G. and Kenneth B. Carter, Elizabethton; two sisters, Hattie B. Hathaway, Elizabethton, and Ruby Donnelly, Merritt Island, Fla.; a brother, Robert C. Meredith, Elizabethton; and special cousins, Marie Matherly and Hazel Marion, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. GRINDSTAFF -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie R. Meredith Grindstaff, 73, 510 Parkway Blvd., Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Mr. Hugh Hatfield and Mr. Greg Key, ministers, officiating. Music will be by Mrs. Janet Stuart, organist. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, Leonard Febuary, Randy Jones, David Shields, Andy Grindstaff, Karl Grindstaff, Tim Broyles and Mark Bindon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bounce Carter, Howard Matherly, Jim Marion, Blaine Merritt, Dorsey Reed, Ray Williams, Donnie Hathaway, Harry Hathaway, Richard Butner, Roger White, Howard White Jr. and C.L. Grindstaff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jericho Shrine Temple Building Fund, P.O. Box 5548, Kingsport, TN 37663. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
