Mr. Grindstaff was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Robert "Bo" and Tilda Alice Ensor Grindstaff. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Southerland and Bertie Ruth Milhorn. Mr. Grindstaff was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation with 42 years of service. He served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Survivors include three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lloyd Grindstaff, of the home, Owen and Dee Grindstaff and Marvin and Phyllis Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Virginia Grindstaff, of the home, Alma Kehrli, Mary and John Lewis and Lois and Roger Carver, all of Elizabethton; two additional brothers-in- law, Lee Southerland and Billy J. Milhorn, both of Elizabethton; six nieces, one nephew; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Dot Curtis, Elizabethton. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick GRINDSTAFF -- Funeral services for Elden Grindstaff, 76, 216 Blevins Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, September 12, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 14, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Heaton and the Rev. J.D. Neely officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dale Williams, soloist, and Joyce Sayler, pianist. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 15, at Ensor Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Active pallbearers will be A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, C.W. Rambo, Glen Ensor, Aubrey Ensor, Kyle Nidiffer, Ken Nidiffer, Willis Murray and Richard Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Roby Williams, H.T. Grindstaff, Henry Grindstaff, Denny Bishop, Tom Hoss, Freeman Taylor, J.T. McPherson, Clyde Broyles and the Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
