CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ada Pearl Grindstaff, 31 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Ada Pearl Grindstaff, age 83, Life Care Center, Elizabethton, formerly of Hardin Hollow Rd., Elizabethton, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Tilford and Bessie Pierce Oliver. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation and Bemberg Corporation. She is preceded in death by a son, Rondal Oliver, in 2001, and one brother, Ruben Brooks Oliver. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Robert Grindstaff, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Vesta Ann and Jerry Peters, Elizabethton; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Branch Lewis and Raymond R. Lewis, Elizabethton; Nanny and Frank "Bud" Rosenbaum, Elizabethton; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A special friend, Miles McCloud, also survives. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. Eulogies will be given by Kevin Colbaugh, Shannon Sims and Kenny Greer. Music will be under the direction of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Quartet. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Blevins Cemetery with Bagpiper, Raymond R. Lewis. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. on Saturday. Active pallbearers will be Miles McCloud, Kenneth Colbaugh, C.W. Rambo, Brian Oliver, Mark Yontz and Bobby Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be doctors and nursing staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, and doctors and nursing staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 2, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace, or friends may call at the residence, 318 Hardin Hollow Rd., Elizabethton.
