CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Martha Louella Markland Grindstaff, 9 Jan 2004

Martha Louella Markland Grindstaff, 86, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, 
Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 9, 2004. A 
native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Kyle and 
Hilda Brown Markland of the Powder Branch Community. Mrs. Grindstaff 
did Private Duty Nursing at the old Carter County Memorial Hospital. 
She was a member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by 
her husband, Fred Grindstaff, Jan. 22, 1973; by an infant son, Larry 
Grindstaff; two sisters, Louise Douglas and Josie Britt; and four 
brothers, Orville, Stewart, Belve and George Markland. 
Survivors include four grandchildren, Tammy Hill, Johnson City, Scott 
Hill and Greg Hill, both of Elizabethton, and Missy Marlowe, Roan 
Mountain; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; 
and also her caregiver, Nancy Berry of Elizabethton. 
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral 
Chapel with the Rev. Ken Bewley officiating. Graveside service and 
interment will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active 
pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 
p.m. Monday will be, Joshua Brock, Jared Brock, Scott Hill, Justin Hill, 
Tommy Sanders and Danny Carver. A Special "Thank You" to Dr. Beals and 
staff of Global Physicians Group and the 3400 and 5200 wings of Johnson 
City Medical CenterThe family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday 
in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral 
home at 2:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be
