Greenwell Grace L. Greenwell, 79, 318 Chambers Drive, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Greenwell was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late John Alexander and Bessie Bell Birchfield Carrier. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Greenwell, in 1974; a son, Kenneth Johnnie Greenwell, in 1961; a granddaughter, Lisa Kim Hardin, in 1968; five brothers, Robert Thomas Carrier, in 1914, Clinton Hendrix Carrier, in 1932, Albert Tipton Carrier, in 1947, Rev. William "Bill" Stanley Carrier, in 1993, Omer Wilson Carrier, in 1997; and a sister, Mattie Lovelace, in 1998. Mrs. Greenwell was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lynn Greenwell, Elizabethton, Rev. Dale and Pam Greenwell, Bluff City, and Dennis and Tobi Greenwell, Murfreesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Faye and Michael Hardin, Lynchville, Ohio, Vickie Richardson and Kathy and Barnie Barnett, all of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren, Mike Hardin and his wife Amy, Akron, Ohio, Neal Greenwell and T.J. Barnett, both of Elizabethton, Teresa Bennett and her husband Jerry, Grafton, Ohio, Tammy Richardson, Taylor Richardson, Beth Barnett and Shana Greenwell, all of Elizabethton, Carly Greenwell, Murfreesboro, and Clelsea Urbani, Bluff City; one great-granddaughter, Katie, Akron, Ohio; six sisters, Mary Broyles, Bluff City, Myrtle Blevins, Goldie Clemons, Violet Gail Bowers and Ruth Reece, all of Elizabethton, Esther Stout, Johnson City; a very special sister-in-law, Mildred Carrier, Hickory, N.C.; and a very special friend, Gertrude Vaughn, Elizabethton. Greenwell, 79, 318 Chambers Drive, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Harvest Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Carrier and the Rev. Dale Greenwell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Frank Eads, soloist, and Greater Heights. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Emmert Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Junior Pooner Powell, Richard Pilk, Joe Carrier, Frank Osborne, Terry Cox and Danny Price. Honorary pallbearers will be J.L. Vaughn, Terry Moore, Ray Byers, Larry Adams, Doug Malone, Bryan Shell and Terry Byers. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Fry, Dr. Todd Whitaker, Dr. Robert Blackey, Mike Watts, Phrm.
