Harrison Norman D. Harrison, 71, 4101 Highway 321, Butler, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 7, 2007, at his home after an extended illness surrounded by his family, his church family and loving friends. Born April 29, 1936 in Carter County to Fred and Sadie Isaacs Harrison, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Bowers, and three brothers, Earl, Frank and Paul Harrison. Norman was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church. He had a caring church family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Norman was a member of Masonic Lodge #125 F&AM, Adrian, Mich., Scottish Rites, 32nd degree Mason and past member of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea with the 101st Airborne Division. He was also a demolition expert. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Pansy Trivett Harrison, of the home; two sons, David Harrison, Houston, Texas, and Mark Harrison, of the home; three grandchildren, Melissa Harrison, Magnolia, Texas, Crystal Harrison and Dakota "Doc" Harrison, of the home; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Sluder, Adrian, Mich., Helen Vance, Tecumseh, Mich.; and Margaret and Richard Malson, Cement City, Mich., and a brother, Allen Harrison, Elizabethton. His special friends, Pastor "Nick" Bradshaw, V.I. Vance, J.R. Campbell and Wiley Oliver, and several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service for Mr. Harrison will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Markland Cemetery, Buck Mountain community of Roan Mountain, with Rev. Cecil "Nick" Bradshaw and Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Those attending are welcome to meet the family at 1:55 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166. Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Randy, Terry, Richard, Mike and C.J. Harrison and Andy and Scott Potter. Friends may call at the residence at anytime. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, Norman requested that donations be made to the Little Milligan Care and Share Food Program, c/o Little Milligan Baptist Church, 4223 Highway 321, Butler, TN 37640. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staffs of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice - Adventa for all the loving care extended to Norman and his family during his illness.
