She was born in Carter County, Tennessee a daughter of the late Sanford McKinney and Ruth Shell McKinney. Mrs. Heaton was a member of the Gray United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Reasoners Sunday School Class and was on the Bereavement Committee. She was a sponsor for the St. Jude Childrens Hospital. She is survived by her husband Ed Heaton; one son, Keith Heaton and wife Judy of Kannapolis, NC; one daughter, Sherri Wilson and husband Ron of Unicoi, TN; three brothers, Bill McKinney and wife Lucille and Eddie McKinney both of Roan Mountain, TN, and Sanford McKinney, Jr. and wife Rosemary of Kingsport, TN; three sisters, Ethel Tegtmeyer and husband Darrell of Jonesborough, TN, Carolyn Johnson and husband Dick of Elizabethton, TN, and Cheryl Miller and husband R.L. of Elizabethton, TN; five grandchildren, Max Bacon, Kelly Heaton, Jon Heaton, Lauren Bacon, and Austin Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, September 1, 2010, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Gray United Methodist Church. A funeral service for Mrs. Betty Ann Heaton will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jim Goddard , John Hitechew and Rev. Jodie Ihfe officiating. Burial will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Johnson Cemetery in Roan Mountain, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 am Thursday morning. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Judes Childrens Hospital in Memphis.
