Katie M. Hicks 





    Katie M. Hicks, 88, of Elizabethton, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Life Care 

Center of Elizabethton. 





    Mrs. Hicks was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Ida 

McGee. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two husbands, 

Henry Hampton and Van Hicks, a granddaughter, Jessica McCool, and by seven 

brothers and sisters. 





    Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. 





    Survivors include a daughter, Edna Campbell, Elizabethton, and four sons 

and two daughters-in-law, Tommy Hampton, Junior and Peggy Hampton and Howard 

Presnell, all of Elizabethton, and Herbert and DeEtte Hampton, Butler. Nine 

grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. 





    Funeral services for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 

10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Stout officiating. Interment 

will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Clate Briggs 

officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Culler, Jacob Culler, Jeremy 

Culler, Donnie Hatley, James Hatley and Kevin Hampton. Honorary pallbearers 

will be her church family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 

from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service hour. Friends may also call at 

the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and DeEtte Hampton, 12655 

Highway 67 West, Butler. Online condolences to the Hicks family may be e-mailed
