Hixson Frances C. Hixson, 77, of Elizabethton, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late B. Monta and Bessie Warren Clark. Mrs. Hixson was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and enjoyed baking. She had previously helped with the Welcome Wagon in Elizabethton and was a former employee of the Bonnie Kate Theater. Mrs. Hixson attended Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hixson, November 20, 1995, and two sisters, Margie Gouge and Marian McGuire. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Ronnie Hazelwood, Kathy and Sonny Hughes and Linda and David Ashworth, all of Elizabethton; four grandsons, Michael Hazelwood, Elizabethton, John Hughes, Knoxville, Zack Hughes and Ethan Ashworth, both of Elizabethton; a sister, Molly Hayes, Elizabethton; a brother, B. Monta Clark Jr. and his wife Joan, Lookout Mountain, and a special friend, Betty White, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service for Mrs. Hixson will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Erwin Lueker and Rev. John P. Shulz officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to travel together in procession. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and sons-in- law. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Guinn, David Emiren, Anthony Emiren and Alexander Emiren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, in the Fireside Room of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to Debbie Stout, Libby Harvey and Mary Jane Kennedy for their love and care given to Frances. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38102- 1905, or to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 234 West F Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643, or to the charity of your choice.
