Hodge Wilma A. Hodge, 74, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at her residence. Born in Carter County, she was the daughter of the Dock Nave and Alice Lewis Nave Cowan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Buckles and Mary McAlister, and a brother, Jerry Wayne Nave. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Keystone Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. She was active throughout the church, where she had taught Sunday school and was in charge of the flower fund. Reading her Bible on a daily basis was very important to her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family, taking care of them and loving them. Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Carter and husband David of Johnson City and Renee Church and husband Bobby of Erwin; her son, Ronda Wayne Hodge and wife Kim of Elizabethton; two sisters, Hildred Gardner and Margie Nave, both of Johnson City; her step-mother, Hazel Nave of Elizabethton; grandchildren, David Wayne Carter and wife Kim, Craig Carter and wife Kristine, special grandson, Justin Whitson, who is presently serving our country in Iraq, Jeremy Whitson, Chelsea Church, and Chassie, Taylor and Caley Hodge; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Carter; several nieces ad nephews; special friends include all of her church family at Keystone Freewill Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Rolen and Dr. David Lurie for the very special care they provided to her. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 10, at Keystone Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and Roddy Bird. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Keystone Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 Bettie Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
