Zeb D. Honeycutt Rev. Zeb David Honeycutt, age 92, 385 Heaton Creek Road, Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, in the Stockton Residential Home for the Elderly, Roan Mountain, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Dave and Isabelle Garland Honeycutt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Shelbourne Wayne Honeycutt and Donald Carroll Honeycutt; and three brothers, Frank Honeycutt, Earl Honeycutt and Paul Honeycutt. Rev. Honeycutt was a retired employee of Bemberg Corporation after 30 years and he was a member and the pastor of Lower Heaton Creek Holiness Church in Roan Mountain. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing, hunting, knife making and studing his Bible. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Myrtle Smith Honeycutt, of the home; two daughters-in-law, Leslie Winters Honeycutt and Brenda Johnson Honeycutt, both of Morganton, N.C.; one brother, Fred Honeycutt, Roan Mountain; one sister, Mae Honeycutt Tipton, Roan Mountain; five grandchildren: G. Kay Honeycutt, Concord, N.C., Shawnah Honeycutt Lunsford, Old Fort, N.C., Sheila Honeycutt Jones, Morganton, N.C., Nikki Honeycutt Costello, Arden, N.C. and Carol Honeycutt Holden, Morganton, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Jacob C. Holden, Morganton, N.C., Andrew M. Costello, Arden, N.C., and D. Adam Lunsford, Old Fort, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Happy Valley Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gene Honeycutt officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mark Houston, Josh Holden, Scott Costello, Kirk Lunsford, Eric Jones, Jim McKinney and Michael McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Lunsford, Matthew Houston and Hayden Houston. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1- 2:30 p.m., in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Lower Heaton Creek Holiness Church, C/O Fred Honeycutt, P.O. Box 156, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
