Hughes Mrs. Thelma J. Hughes, 93, Hermitage Health Care, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Silas H. Stepp and Bessie Mae Reynolds. Mrs. Hughes was a retired employee of East Tennessee Undergarment Company and TPI Inc. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church but attended First Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond Hughes, September 13, 1957, a daughter, Jenny Lou Hopson, and a sister, Viola Elliott. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Bill Craig, Johnson City, and JoAnn and James "Bo" Campbell, Elizabethton; a son, Ted R. Hughes, Johnson City; two sisters, Mrs. Jewel Elliott, Johnson City, and Mrs. Bonnie Freeman of Mexico; her grandchildren, Cathy Curtis, Jo Ellen Pierson, Marc Campbell, Jena Collins, Tommy Starnes, Lee Starnes, Brad Craig and Billy Craig; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister-in- law, Eileen Hughes Klebenow, Knoxville. A Service to Celebrate the life of Thelma Hughes will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phil Poston officiating. The Eulogy will be given by the Rev. Mark Collins. Music will be provided by her granddaughters, Cathy Curtis and Jena Collins. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Marc Campbell, Tommy Starnes, Lee Starnes, Brad Craig, Andy Curtis, Ryan Curtis and Hunter Pierson. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Elliott, Jerry Elliott, Jim Hastings, Bob Reynolds, John Parlier and Wayne Scott. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the Hermitage Health Care and the Nurses on the 6200 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center for their care of our mother and also to her special friends, Rhea Baker, Connie Hyder, Kathy Clawson, Mary Lee Hilton, Charlotte Montgomery and Liz Whitson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and James "Bo" Campbell, 111 Messimer Lane, Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Hughes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or The Gideons International, P.O.
