Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Cad T. and Minnie Young Hyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa "Terry" Nave, and three brothers, Fred, Arnold and Floyd Hyder. Mr. Hyder was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and worked for the International Union for several years. He also served as Chaplain for the Watauga Rayon Workers #2207. He was a member and had served as a Deacon for many years at Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Hyder served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Tennessee Vols Fan. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Walker Hyder; a grandson, Aaron Shipley of Johnson City; a granddaughter, Megan Nave of Elizabethton; a great- granddaughter, Ariana Harmonie Marie Shipley of Johnson City; a goddaughter, Patty Russell of Elizabethton; a sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and Bill Clark of Elizabethton; and a brother, Albert Hyder of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Hyder will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, October 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Eulogies given by Bobby Woods Sr. and Gary Smith. Music will be provided by Oma Jean Woods, Penny Roberson, Bobby Woods Jr., Linda Bowers, Brenda Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hill. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Cole officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will be Romely Wallace, Alton Wallace, Curtis Hyder, Louis Deloach, Sam Willis, Wayne Berry, R.H. Berry and Glen Hayes Woodby. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Cable, Jack Perkins, Jim Owens, Pat "Red" Bowers, Curtis Alexander, Bill Carter, Bill Cannon, Bob Rouse, John Rouse, Bob Woods Sr., Randal Lewis, Mary Gouge, Dr. Robert Sams, Bob Berry, Judy Richardson, John Hensley, Jody Bristol, Ray Lewis Jr., Phil White, Tony Bowers, Dennis Crowe, Auburn Peters, John L. Bowers and his caregivers, Sam and Susan Willis, Daniel Bob Murphy, Gary and Kay Thomas, Clifford and Jeannie Typhar, Bobby and Amy Sands, David and Kathy Lowe and Peggy Cole. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
