Hammitt Clarence L. Hammitt, 90, 126 Old State Line Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at Pine Ridge Care Center after a brief illness. Mr. Hammitt was a native of Carter County and a son of the late J.C. and Nannie Douglas Hammitt. Mr. Hammitt was a retired Supervisor with Bemberg Corporation. He was a member and deacon of Doe River Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise Blevins Hammitt; a daughter and son- in-law, Linda and Luther Odom, Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Misty Hammitt, Elizabethton; a sister, Edith Little, Conyers, Ga.; four grandchildren, Angela Corder, Michael Odom, Eric Odom and Madison Hammitt; and a great-granddaughter, Christen Odom. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. HAMMITT -- Funeral services for Clarence L. Hammitt, 90, 126 Old State Line Road, Elizabethton, who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fred Wade officiating. Mrs. Trilla Little, organist, will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Otis McNeal, Delaney Crain, Kent Hyder, Bob White, Mike Hyder and Marvin Carden. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
